Microsoft to create its own version of Genius Bar
With its $300 dollar advertisement plan to dig Vista up, Microsoft came up with yet another strategy that resemble the Apple’s Genius Bar: Microsoft Guru.
The Microsoft Gurus will be strategically deployed ay Microsoft’s key retailers like Best Buy, Circuit City and other key stores in North America. These gurus will be able to help you with the integration between Vista and Microsoft’s other products, such as Windows Mobile or its Windows Live suite of dedicated and web apps. They won’t fix your computer problems though.
None of these staffers will be rewarded with commission pay and will instead be judged on their ability to “translate” technology for customers, Pilla says. It’s not known whether this will quickly lead to a full-scale deployment if the trial is worthwhile for Microsoft.
About 155 gurus will be ready at the end of the year.
